How would you rate this OS as compared to Windows ME and new XP? Is this going to be hard to get working? Going to try disk 1 before downloading second disk to see if it works, using getright software and three servers in download.?

Why doesn't it ask for the 2nd disc on install, and what is on the 2nd disc? I can't get any RPM's to install so is there away I can do it from the konsole?

I would guess that if no apps from the 2nd disk were needed it would not ask for the 2nd disk. I don't know though....

I dont know this OS system yet just trying it out- there are two separate downloads that fill two cd disks. I have 74% of one disk downloaded so far.

The second rom of my 7.1 mandrake is extra disc. It isn't needed for installation. Suppose 8 is the same.

MDK 7.1 asked me for disk 2 when it installed Netscape.Disk 2 just has extra applications on it.
To install somthing you can sometimes mount the cd(Mandrake will mount it for you)go to the /mnt/cdrom directory.It will show icons for whats on the disk.Try right-clicking and sometimes it will offer the "install" option.HTH
