Today when I tried to log on to my computer at work it is making a new profile for me instead of loading up to my original profile. My original profile being jeffersond, it is now loading under jeffersond001. I have a new desktop without any of my shortcuts. I don't know what is causing this or how to get it to load up my original profile. If anyone can help it will be GREATLY appreaciated.

Have you called your Tech support?
It sounds like you are having problems with your profile, and it has created a new profile for you.
Dont do anything without checking with your support group. It will just create a bunch of duplicate items between the profiles.
Good luck

If you are able access the profile on your local harddrive, then you can simply copy everything from your "old" profile to the new one. Has your NT Admin changed profile setup? I'd check with them, but if your local system is not NTFS, and if you can access your old profile, then it's pretty easy to copy the old to the new.
From experience, typically the way to resolve profile problems is to blow away the profile folder and tell the user to start over.
a profile is like any other file on a computer - prone to corruption and damage....
If the system cannot read the profile folder, it will build a new one.
If the profile you are trying to access is bigger than the available system resources to run it, then the system can cause a new one to be built - essentially starting over. A new profile is typically tiny - so the available resources are enough to run it....
You might only need to reboot the server the profile is on -
You might only need to have the admin go in and run chkdsk, defrag, norton speed disk, or diskeeper on the hard drive segment storing your profile - that might fix it.
the admin might only need to go into your old profile and delete all the internet temporary files for you, reducing the size of it - and delete the new 1 profile -
the admin might be able to move the needed parts of ypur old profile into your new profile <<< that is probably your very best bet.
good luck -

Every time I would log on it would create a new profile. The admin tried repairing it but it just messed up even more so we went ahead and updated the computer to Windows 2000. It was a major pain in the neck because I had a lot of personaly stuff get lost. No big deal though, good learning lesson.
