games skipping

i have a pentium2 350Mhz, 128Mram, voodoo3 3000. Why do most of the games i play read to the hard drive during play, this causes the games to stutter? Is there a way for me to optimize the settings somewhere? I find this mostly with fast driving games but other games do also.

P2 350 isn't exactly a speed demon anymore.

Perhaps it's time for a CPU upgrade. :-)

Didn't say if you were running the games off the CDRom.

He did say that they were being read from his HDD too much.......

Hmm......This is what I think.

1. Increase your swapfile size
2. Close all memory resident programs (if you have ICQ, AIM, and AOL, and MSN all running, close them all)
3. Last but not least.....see if you can overclock your CPU (to test if you need a faster processor).
