system specs

i am going to use partition magic to partition hard drive into 2 10g apiece.
win98 on 1 and debian on other.
questions;
would this be the way to start my installation process?
do i need to do anything different than what i suggested?
how do i access each individual os?
i would appreciate any help and or links to help me get started and learn how to use debian.
only have mp3 and movies on this system.

Debian - an excelent choice!
You hardware is almost identical to mine with the exception of onboard sound and the dsl modem (is this internal?)
would this be the way to start my installation process?
> Yes, although I would go with debian unstable because it will have later software for you.
do i need to do anything different than what i suggested?
> If the drive is on the ATA100 controller then you may need to pass certian parameters to LILO (LinuxLoader)
how do i access each individual os?
> With LILO - it is the boot manager.
i would appreciate any help and or links to help me get started and learn how to use debian.

> Okay! no problem. I know some people who dual boot have a single fat32 partion for MP3s so both windows and linux can access them. With you hardware you can play hardcore games - I do http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

thx NDC - I think there were commas in the way. debian unstable is simply software that has not under gone all of the tests - for me it has not been unstable at all.
