WAR-FTP Running 24hrs

Hi there,

Is War-FTP (jgaa.com) good server software to run 24hrs a day on a Windows98 machine? I'm not too experienced with server software at all, so I naturally chose the one most people speak of.

However, my needs are different than a lot of peoples because I need a full 24hr server displaying files and web pages to many users which are all anonymous (don't need any passwords or logins to access files). I'm having problems with this software becuase at times it lets me login only, but no one else seems to get through. Also, some files will download, and others won't even though they're on my hard drive.

If you are looking for 24hrs a day of uptime, I'm sure you realize that windows isn't the best solution. I'd recommend a flavour of linux or bsd plus ProFTPD.

I'm sure you can get War-FTP to do what you are asking tho.

I see, so Win98 isnt' the best alternative. I guess I'll have to setup a low-end server to handle the downloads that's running Linux.
Maybe you could help me with a problem though. I have the server running, and all, all user features are enabled to allow anonymous access, although no one can get in except me. Sometimes they can, sometimes they can. Also, some files won't download at all - although once in a while they do. What's going on?
