i was told that i could use a 98 system disk...
and go into the i386 dir. of the win2k Cd... and use winnt.exe and install it.. is this true?

That's how I installed Win2k and there's something very screwy about it. I can't seem to find the following:

boot.ini
ntldr
ntdetect
etc.

All of the main boot files are MIA. When the system boots up and boot.ini displays the OS menu, there's a second choice after Win2k for "Previous Operating System." I didn't have a previous OS. I formatted the drive then booted off the 98 floppy and loaded CD-ROM drivers. I still prefer the easiest installation method and that's to set your BIOS to boot off the CD-ROM. Works like a charm.
