It is easy!
Open the file you use to have your window manager and add the line
/usr/X11R6/lib/xscreensaver/<name> -root
replace name with one of the files in the /usr/X11R6/lib/xscreensaver/
and walla! you have a dynamic desktop.

taking a note from cmonster and trying to throw out neat tips and ideas for your linux box.

Would that be in ~/.Xclient or what?

~/.Xclients-default for redhat based systems
and ~/.xinitrc for debian based.
