Dear All,

I am concerned about the security of my network which is connected to the
Internet.
We are using NT 4.0 SP6a, OP4, IIS 4.0 and Proxy server2.0 also.

What kind of security threats we can face ? Also with regards to IIS ?
What measures should we take ?
What sort of security can we implement other than NTFS and patches on IIS ?
Should we use any other software to tighten the security ?

Suggestions and advices are needed and appreciated.

To see how vulnerable your system is, you should download a port sniffer program to sniff out the open ports in your computer, expecially when you're online. Some of these programs will even have docs to tell you how to close certain ports. These programs can also tell you which ports hackers use to get into your machine, whether you're online or not, because as long as your modem is connected to the phone line, and your computer is on, hackers can get in. The modem is a two-way door.

Get yourself one of these programs and try it out. I would also recommend getting the program ZONEALARM which will alert you when someone is trying to access your machine. This program is free.
