MSN Problem, Not one about how its not working

Everytime I goto hotmail MSN IM opens. I have the "allow to run in background" unchecked.
It's not starting up.
It doesn't close when I leave hotmail either.
Its just really annoying.

I've noticed the same thing with mine (when it's running) I've even gone into the registry and removed it from the start-up list, but MSN keeps putting it back! :P

mine opens(off), when i log into hotmail and outlook. but it's gone when i log out so something is wrong there. but you already figured that huh. someone will know http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

The easiest fix is to uninstall MS Messanger if you dont use it. Go Add/Remove Programs and you will find it listed there. Then when you launch OE or Hotmail it will not run in the background http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Obtain your dial-up number. Now execute "winipcfg.exe" from the start,run box. Write down the DNS information as presented.

Create a new dial-up session, add the DNS and phone #'s as needed. Set to dynicamically assigned IP address.

Then completely uninstall the MSN software, thus regaining your sense of sanity. MSN's software seriously sucks (my definitive review!). The service is actually quite good once this trashed is removed. Even use MSN for my BeOS and Unix boxex.
