I was doing my weekly defrag, virus scan, etc. on Win98se platform. My HDD is partitioned C - G. C would not finish defragging. It holds the OS and is smaller than the other partitions. I kept hitting a road block in attempting to defrag partition C at around 92%. I ran scandisk, virus scan, etc. Everything appeared fine. On a hunch I ran SiSoft Sandra Bench Marck on C partition. The BM flew through its execution, displaying an ERROR message: (para-phrasing): "<u>xxx number of MBs required for BM test</u>. I realized that I had put too much stuff on the C partition, i.e., not enough free space to defrag. I'd never seen that before nor read about it. I dumped or moved data from the boot partition et voila partition defragged no problem. A tip worth knowing if you didn't already know it.
