I made boot discs and installed 2k on my c drive. I have 3 hard drives in now, 1 not partitioned (C http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif and one partitioned. The other one I'm having trobles formatting so that doesn't show up. But when I got to My Computer/C: there is no Winnt available. I didn't have time to look at any of the other drives as I was leaving when I noticed it, could it have placed it on one of the other drives? If so would it mess anything up if I cut and pasted it all to the c drive?

ok but the drive I installed 2k on is NOT partintioned. Only the empty hd is. Could it maybe be cos I didn't check show all files yet in folder options or maybe something else in folder options ot make it show up?
It's quite obvious that Win2k was installed on a hard disk that is partioned. There is no possible way that Win2k could've installed. I have a feeling you may have installed it in a subdirectory maybe?
WINNT does not have a hidden attribute by default. You should be able to see it through explorer. Try using the Find option to locate the WINNT folder...

Yes, you could of. Windows 2000 can be installed on any available volume on your system.
When you install Windows 2000, it looks for other installs and also lets you install the OS to another drive if available and then will modify you MBR to the changes so your OS will boot.
Logon and scan you drives for your OS's.

But a partition(volume) has to be indicated in order for win2k to be installed. If you can see a win2k desktop then the hdd has been partitioned.
Do you mean you have win9x already installed and installed 2k in a sub-directory?
You wont get very far in the win2k setup process if you dont indicate where you want to install it.

Well originally I had 98SE and 2K on the same hd, but that drive was partitioned. Then I reformated and both drives, partitioning one but not the other. I made the boot disks for 2k and installed choose to install it on the c drive, which was the one NOT partitioned.
But I see what you all are saying. Like I said I was running late so I only checked the c drive, not d or e. So I'm guessing it will be in probably e from what you all are saying. I just wasn't sure if you had to enable some option to show it or not
