or is it samba?
My w2k box shows on the properties for the samba share of /var/spool/squid the following:

Size: 45.4 MB (47,687,426 bytes)
Size on disk: 195 MB (204,832,768 bytes)

A du -sh on the same directory directly from the linux box says:

74M /var/spool/squid

Go figure....

At least the number of subdirectories are consistent (4112).

p.s.: don't ask me why I shared my /var/spool/squid directory!

More: /usr

Windows: 368MB , 1.01GB on disk
Linux: 353MB. Funny thing is, df on this partition gives: 1.4G Total, 495M Used, 831M Available.

More (ok, I stop here)
my /home/user partition:

Windows: 637MB, 1GB on disk
Linux: 84M, funny thing is /home/user is an old Conner 420MB.

I wonder what links I got on these partitions and how win(or samba) treats them when reporting. I can't think of anything else!

Oook, I got it:

look the address explorer shows:

\\Neptune\root\home\user\otheos\.gnome-desktop\Home directory\.gnome-desktop\Home directory\.gnome-desktop\Home directory\.gnome-desktop\Home directory\.gnome-desktop\Home directory\.gnome-desktop\Home directory\.gnome-desktop\Home directory

hehe, how do they figure where to stop (cause they do, since the size report stops at some point).
