My computer with WindowNT SP6 was crashed yesterday. When I was trying to recovery it, it alway said :" There is a syntax error in the setup information file at line 401. This indicates an internal setup error. Set up cannot continue.Power down or reboot your computer now." Then I thought may be are some virus in my system, so I formated my hard disk, and reload Window NT from scratch. But while I am using three NT start up disk to loading the file, the computer showed the same message again. And when I tried again, the same message came up again. This makes me really stressing out. Could any body help me on this please!!!!!

have you tried booting from the cd instead???
maybe one of your disk's is bad. www.bootdisk.com (http://www.bootdisk.com) is a place you can get the disk images if your cd isnt bootable.

Try booting with a Win98 boot disk and go to the i386 directory in the NT4 CD and type:

winnt /b

Yes, I have tried that too, the error messsage still came up as usual. I was just wondering if the NT cd was corrupted or hard disk had some problem.

Maybe you need to low level format your hard disk or run an fdisk, delete the nt partition and boot from the cd.!
