I have the following problem when Win98 boots I after the Win98 Screen goes away and screen is black still loading, just before the actual windows screen comes up. The system Hangs/Locks up. Its not all the time I may boot up several time okay and a few times it locks.

I think its a driver issue that loads since
it will always bootup okay in safe mode. Another clue is it wont detect the ps/2 mouse now this only happened 2 or 3 times out
of many bootups but have not seen it happen lately but still have a lockup problem.

My system is new MB & processor I purchased
and noticed this problem since the switch over.

Asus A7M266 Mother Board
AMD 1.33 Ghz Processor
512 Meg Ram DDR

Those are the only pieces I replaced Drives & etc are my orignal stuff also its a fresh
install of Win98.

I can sure use some help with this one!

Thanks

The bootup could simply be "choking" on one of the startup programs. Its going to be real hard to tell which one since the problem is intermittent. You might click on Start->Run and type MSCONFIG and tak a look at all the items with a check mark in it. If you're unsure as to wich ones to uncheck, post the list back here.

Thanks Steve will get it as soon as I get home. Is there a way for the drivers to list on the screen as there being loaded to see were it stops at?

The comfirmation line by line wont do since it ask Y or N first then does all the ones you said yes to at one time.
