Everytime, it never fails. At some point Netscape will always cease to work. It starts by acting like its not getting a good connection (status bar will sit at like "24 Kb received...) but just hang there. THene the windows will freeze a while later. Then it just crashes. I am using 4.73 Anyone know of what causes this? Or How I can export my bookmarks so I can use them in IE

if it does that and the links don't seem to work it's that javascript has crashed. if you go and turn off javascript in your preferences you should be able to still surf. the only problem is that javascript won't work again until you reboot your machine. haven't figured out the source of this problem, but i've had it since 4.x came out. still, i like netscape much better than ie.

Are you kidding? IE runs circles around AOL-scape. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

msbrown2,

For all questions pertaining to Netscape, ask Dreambird (http://www.windows-help.net/cgi-bin/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number=9&SUBMIT=Go).

like all the great battles before, AMD vs. Intel, 3dfx vs. NVidia, PS2 vs Everybody else, there's always gonna be 2 sides. i'm happy you guys like ie. personally, i can't stand it and the only reason it's on my machine is cuz you can't use windows update without it. hmmm, maybe after the split i can finally purge it. not to mention split my stock holdings! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

I always look at these comparisons from a philosophical viewpoint: Fords vs. Chevys. Everyone has their favorite.

For website design, you would need both browsers to be able to check your work and make sure the design looked good whether Netscape or Internet Explorer were used.

For you website designers, isn't it true that Netscape is much pickier when it comes to how the html format is written? I've heard from several webmasters that Netscape sucks when trying to write webpages that are readable in it.

Netscape is more picky about HTML because it does not overlook HTML errors like IE does. But then again so is Opera.

Ford VS Chevy? I don't think so because both of them make a good reliable product. NS is just crashy and does not offer the reliability of IE from my experience on several different versions of Windows and several different computers.

If you do CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the Close Program box I'm guessing that you will see Netscape in there even after you close it down. Just end that task (keep doing it till it accually goes away). There is a problem with Win32 version that it gets stuck in there, duno what causes it but that will usually make it work again. Sometimes if resources are low you will need to restart. This happens about once a week to me usually after play'n Q3F for hours straight.
