Sorry about all the question marks. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
But I want to install win98se cab files so that when i add a printer or something i don't need the cd. How do i do this. I notice that all the retail computers have this. I've always wanted to do this to my homebuilt one. Can anyone help me?

The common place to copy all those files would be the folder:
C:\Windows\options\cabs
This folder likly already exists on your system. Pop your Windows disk in the CD, It will propobly start by itself and an opening screen comes up. Click the option "browse" and on the disk open up the Win98 folder.
Copy all the .cabs files into the location mentioned above.
When you got them copied, remove the Cd, close all the boxes and go to: Start\run type in "regedit" (no quotes).
The registry editor will open up, you need to navigate to the following key:
Hkey_Local_machine\software\microsoft\windows \current version\setup
On the right hand side look for the key "SourcePath" it may have a path listed like E:\win98. double click SourcePath and change the path to reflect the current location of the .cab files:
C:\Windows\options\cabs
Thats it, save and exit and your set
hope that helps Joel http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
