I am using Win95b right now. I am buying a new OS and I want it to handle input from an IEEE 1394 device. Does Windows98 support 'firewire' or is IEEE 1394 only supported in ME? Thanks in advance.

LordLocksley 05-08-2001, 10:45 AM 98SE does support firewire. lazerbeam 05-10-2001, 12:06 PM Yes it sure does. I took a chance and bought a non-bandname Firewire ($24.95) board and installed it. Win98SE recognized it, determined that it had a Texas Instrument controller chip and installed it's generic driver for it chip set. I connected my digital video camera to the card it work like a champ. It beats the heck out of USB for speedy transfers.. reagan_oconnor 05-24-2001, 07:49 AM Hi, lazer... I'm new 'round here.. I noticed your post, and I'm interested in knowing which no-name firewire card you got. (I'm looking at doing the same thing). Also, what proc/HD? I'm debating about which proc to invest in. I've got a brand spankin' new Western Digital 30gig 5200 rpm, and I've heard that you need at least a 40 gig 7200 rpm drive for sufficient space. True? Thanks! Reagan SysOpt.com
