Processor Upgrade assistance

COMPAQ Presario 5612, 350mhz, 100mhz fsb,.
Any input or direction on what the fastest P-III that I can upgrade to and that will fully function?

You're going to have to get out your motherboard map and specifications. Find out how great a clock multiplier your motherboard supports--you may be able to upgrade to a 400 or even a 450 Mhz CPU. POssibly more, though I doubt it.

compaq makes the board, uses an Intel 440bx chip set. There a lable on the current P-II that shows how to set the jumpers to 500mhz. I don't want to overclock if I can install a P-III?
