Ok this is strange....

I have a Gigabyte Ga-7ZX motheboard with AMD Duron 850 (@ 900) with 2 ATA100 h/d's.

Now I installed all Win2K service packs and the latest VIA patch and the latest BIOS for the motherboard and I have a proper ATA 66/100 cable.

Now when I go to the device manager it says my Primary IDE (both H/D on primary IDE channel) it says they are running PIO mode. I have the DMA mode selected and have the BIOS setup right.

When I run SiSoft Sandra the benchmarks are great.

what is wrong and why does Win2k say my drives are running is PIO mode?

Is there a free utility that I can run to check this out for sure. (basically saying "yes, they are running in DMA mode".

Thanks.

I don't remember the link, but I do remember reading a Knowledge Base article about that.... basically, 2K is screwing it up, it IS in DMA mode, NOT PIO.

Just wish I could find that KB article.
