Ok, these are not mine, I found this file on a black disket with no label,it had them in it.

1.) Thereīs 200 lockers, well 200 students decides to play with the doors of those lockers. The first student opens every locker. The second student opens lockers 2,4,6,8..... The third student opens lockers 1,3,6,9..... and so on. If the locker is already open, then student closes it. How many locker are open when all of them have done this?

2.)A cockroach starts at one end of a 5 meter elastic tightrope and runs towards the other end at a speed of one meter per second. At the end of every second, the tightrope stretches uniformly and instantaneously, increasing its length by 5 meters each time throughout the whole string. How long time the cockroach will run?

3.)Take 2 standard decks of cards (52 cards each) and put them together (so you have one deck) and do a "perfect shuffle." By "perfect shuffle," I mean you take the top half of the deck in your right hand and place the bottom card of the right stack down first, then the bottom card from the left deck, then the new bottom card from the right half, then the left, etc.... How many shuffles, until the cards are back in the order you started?

4.)How many numbers between 1 and 1000 are palindromes? (For example 474 is a palindrome, it is the same backwards and forwards.)

5.)Place 8 queens to 8x8 chess board. There canīt be two queens in same line (horizontal, vertical or diagonal). With how many moves you can do this?

6.)The rabbit population is 20. Rabbits produce offspring every month, 2 rabbits produce one baby-rabbit. Baby-rabits are ready to produce offspring after one month. 10% of Grown rabbits will die and 50% of baby rabbits will die before they can breed. Rabbit hunting season is every 12th month (once a year) it last one month, during that time 90% of Rabbit population will die. How many months it lasts before the rabbit population is over 1,000,000 (1 million).

7.)How much is 1000th + 1500th + 3000th number in number string? Number string is 12345678910111213.........29993000

8.)Whatīs the sum of numbers from 1 to 100,000 (0.1 million)?
(thatīs 1+2+3+......+99999+100000)

9.)How much is 100 divided by N, N is from 1 to 100.

10.)How much is the sum of Hypotenuses of triangles in the set of triangles, The set is
|\
N | \
|__\
N
N is from 1000 to 10000 units.

11.)How many natural numbers less than a 1,000,000 (1 million) which are divisible by 5 or 7, are there?

12.)How many numbersīs (smaller than 100,000) square ends in the same number (for example: 76, because 76^2=5,376).

Answer them if you can, I will post what I have gotten of them in a few days, as what I have gotten took me 3 days. If you know of where I can get more of these, please tell me.

Eh, I THINK I have like 3 of them.

1) Half are opened (assuming that when they go thru the loop of opening/closing all/even/odd they start over at all/even/odd)

2) That cockroach is gonna die of old age running.

4) 109 palindromes.

From what I've seen lookin at these, this is a collection of trick questions. I agree with Freem. Burn it! Now! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

black diskette, no label, parentage unknown...
How many of you brainstormy Sysopters would have actually attempted to load files on your computer from a found object of this description?

I hope you are going to give the answers as i have a few but they are different to those of brastius.

1)assuming the sequence is 2,4,6 ... 1,3,6,9...4,8,12,16...1,5,10,15 then there will be 13 lockers left open, locker nos 4,9,16... etc squares of numbers 2 to 14.

2) the cockroach will run for ever and as brastius will die before finishing

4) there are 108 palandromes

10)roughly 70003571.34 units (as a guess http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif )

11) 342857

12)There are 40000 nos between 1 and 100000 with squares which end in the same no as their square root.

guess who is bored, still got the tricky ones to go.

8.)Whatīs the sum of numbers from 1 to 100,000 (0.1 million)?
(thatīs 1+2+3+......+99999+100000)

Quicky. Scientific Calculator function for this is:

100000! (percent)

But I don't have a calculator to hand (doh)

EDIT> No it's not. That would give 1x2x3 etc. Sorry !
