When using Internet Explorer and adding a site to my "Links" bar many sites have their own, creative icons to indicate their site. Soon, however, the unique icons have been replaced with the generic IE, "blue 'e' on a white sheet of paper" icons. Is there a way to force IE to leave the unique, website icons alone?

'Fraid it's a programming deficiency in IE. Nothin you can do about it AFAIK.

You loose them because the icon, like all internet graphics, go into your temp internet file and when you clear that folder they go bye-bye.

If you really want to keep them you need to do this. Re-bookmark the sites to get the icons back, then do a search for "favicon". Copy all the favicons into another folder somewere then link the shortcuts to the icons. You do that by right clicking on it, choosing "properties" then "change icon", then browse to the folder you created and select the saved icon.
