Adjust scroll speed in Word/Excel 97

Does anyone know how I can decrease the scrolling speed in either app when I am using the mouse to drag and highlight rows.
Its too darn fast when I'm trying to select say a dozen rows in a large file. It's really more of an issue in Word than Excel.

Check MSWord Help under "Selecting text with a mouse" and you will find a list of neat tricks for selecting just what you need, without the darn thing suddenly scrolling to the end of the document. It is worth printing out a hard copy to have handy.

Thanks Capt., although it doesn't say how to adjust scroll speed, the option to select a vertical block of text was helpful.
