win ME and adaptec easy cd creator 4.00

Ok I have windows ME and easy cd creator 4.00
I have had it working scince I got ME (about 2 weeks before it was on the shelf in stores!) and now I have reinstalled everything and ez cd says that there are no detected burners.
Philips cdd2600 is my burner and it is in the adaptec compatibility list.
I checked roxios web site and it says that this happens sometimes with ME and to call for tech support.here is the link

It worked just fine and I have installed it several times from scratch on different machines, I had the problem once but just uninstalled the burner and adaptec and reinstalled end of story. Not this time, reinstaled using 4.03 update and then after this I installed burner, to get same problem.
Adaptec wants a TSID number when I call and I have a burned copy, and they dont give a fix on the web site.

Has anyone had this problem and does anyone know the fix? I need this bad, I just ghosted a machine and have my hard drive full of ghost files, about 4 gigs.

well I guess I found a answer, Im sure there is a easier way but I don't have a problem with it. I just need to find a copy of 4.02, it will work just fine, but for some reson you can,t get the patch to work, roxio says only the full 4.02 does not have the problem.

Have you heard any good news about 5 platinum? I heard its not to great and it had some problems. but I guess you hear that with a lot of software.
If its worth it I may break down and buy it, but then agian my burner is only a 2 speed, so I might be better off waiting to get a new burner that comes bundeld with it.

Most of the new burners are coming with either Roxio's 4.02 or 4.03 version of the software so you shouldnt have any problem with that software as long as you get a current burner.

Personally 5.0 is great. I am currently having great luck with it both on ME and Win2K. Since I was a Registered owner of version 4.0x they discount the new versions to make it atractive to upgrade.

Why don't you just shoplift 5.0 out of CompUSA and see if that takes care of it? You could steal a car and be there in no time at all! But I guess if you didn't want to shoplift it, you could knock over a convenience store on the way and pay cash <g>

Well funny thing. I installed ezcd creator 3.5 and it works fine. I liked it better anyways. I might get 5.0 next week and see how I like it

well adaptec did not lock thier doors so I walked right on in and made a copy. when they start protecting thier software so it can not be copied then I will start buying, but I do admit somtimes things are just worth buying, or if its cheap I will buy, but do you honestly think that I am going to buy ms visual studio 6.0 enterprise edition just to learn how to program? I dont think so. now once I start programing for a living and make money doing it then I will buy it. its one thing to make a copy just to have but it is something totaly diferent to make money off of a copy.
