Hey Guys, I need to know how to put a "Password Lock" on the internet. I'm running win ME. What I want is for ME to ask for a "password" in order to log on to the internet. Just want to "BLOCK" the internet ,NOT the total computer. Once "password" is in place, is there any way "around" it. Like logging on as a "guest" or something?? Don't know hardly anything about ME (but learning) and TRYING TO STAY ONE STEP AHEAD of the kids!!!!
Thanks
Use a username to log into winme and it should only save the internet password for that username. Or, uncheck the 'save password' button from dial-up settings. Or do you even have a dialup =)

If you use a dial up connection, you should already have to enter a username and password.
There is a way to block viewing of web pages.
contol panel>internet options>content. Enable the content advisor and have all the settings for it on the minimum.
This will effectively block the internet, of course it wont block any email, chat, or instant messaging. The way aruond it is to delete the registry key where the password is stored, however you will know if it has been deleted when you try to use it.
If you have an always on connection, such as Cable or DSL, the firewall software I use(ZoneAlarm)allows you to lock out the internet completely.
If it is web sites you are worried about, then content advisor would be the way to go.
It can't be defeated by a restart or logging on in a different name.
