Can anyone shed a little light on it.
I thought that Labtec was very good
but then a little later I was told that Altec Lansing is the best
I know both give good bass, but it the
clearness and good sounding that matter.
Oh yea and last
Do you recommend 3 piece speaker over 2 piece which is a little more expensive.
It give great bass sound while the 2 piece
don't.

I love the AL speakers I have. I test drove many of the LT and AL and decided ont he AL because pf more clarity and better highs. Ge the 3 piece at least for more bass. The 2 way speakers cannot deliver as much for the price.

IMHO, the "best" computer speaker setup you can get doesn't come from either of those manufacturers..... They come from Klipsch! However, they are a bit more pricey than either the Altec or the Labtech.
I think that if the choice is between AL and LT, then the better choice between the two would be from Altec Lansing.

I think it is unfair to not include Creative Labs. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
I listened to a 3 piece CL and LT which both retailed for about $50 (don't know the model). Personally, the CL speakers/sub sounded a bit better, although it was close. I thought that CL handled the higher volumes better.

I have a three piece set of Labtecs and they are OK. The overall sound is not bad until you crank them near max power and then sats start to chock a bit. Altec has been around for quite some time and has a good reputation for home and car audio speakers so I would assume their computer speakers are just as good.
Keep in mind you pretty much get what you pay for. My next set will most likely be Boston Acoustics. It really is a matter of personal taste. Find a store that has several different brands because when you get home they will not sound the same as they do in the store.

Boston Acoustics home theater speakers are TOP NOTCH. A friend of mine has four of 'em. They are not big at all - like bookshelf speakers - but they produce excellent bass. Even comparable to my large 15" woofers. And the sound clarity!! It's just awesome, to say the least. BA is the greatest.

I have an AL setup with 4 satellites and a sub, and i love them. THe bass is deep and the treble is great!

Thank you so much
I see the clear winner is Altec Lansing so one of my friend isn't lieing.
It sure take alot to convince me doesn't it?
I will be getting it tommorrow.
What I have now is a Labtec 19.99 speaker
hehe It is really horrible
as my full size speaker in living room
sounded much better then this.

I love my Altec 3 piece system. The bass rocks! I"ve had to go back to headphones for FPS games because the explosions were scaring the neighbors. Heh!
I guess nobody tried the Labtec APX4620... 70W of true power... 44W only for the sub and yes, it's in a wooden case...

It's also got to do with the positioning of your speakers. Two on either side of the monitor, and the bass against the wall beneath the computer. The bass will travel through the wall and vibrate underneath the desk. Talk about power between your legs.
Definitely AL or BA.

I have AL speakers. They are very loud! I have the volume barely up. The problem I have is when I power them up they make a loud bwuuuppp from the bass unit on the floor. Kinda annoying.

I have a set of Labtec LCS 2632 w/ subwoofer and I wouldn't trade em for anything. There quite versitile for soft music as well as belting out like "Chicago"
or "Steely Dan" Very clear in all ranges, even with my less than optimal sound card.
