Cyrix performance improver

I downloaded the file 6X86CFG.EXE from the cool files section and when i try to run it the program comes up with the error "This program is used internally by PackageFromThe Web. It should not be executed directly." If anybody can please explain how i fix this problem it would be a great help.

Did you check the web site from where you downloaded it and see if there is any additional info? FAQ's, or something?

i downloaded the file from www.sysopt.com and there wasn't any additional info so i'm unsure of what to do about it ;<

It would seem on second look that the utility runs internally and need not be executed (by you). I think you just download it and let it go.

That's my interpretation, which could be wrong.

Did any other files comes with the download beside the .exe ?

No i only got the file i mentioned above... I just installed Windows 98 after i wrote that last question and tried the program again, but still no progress ;<

Ide check for a virus in that file.
Have run into this myself on another file and it turned out to be infected.

That message is indeed the default that tells you the *.exe file has a virus in it.
Probably CIH. Even if you have a virus checker, It's probably infected too! You may be looking at a format and reinstall with this.
