I know all about the capabilities of MSDOS.SYS file. What I need to know is this:

Scenario: Windows (95) abends, freezes up, and you must reboot... it comes up in safe mode.

Question: Does Windows modify the MSDOS.SYS file to accomplish the safe mode boot, or is there another file that is modified to make safe mode happen, and if so -- what is that file's name?

please help ASAP.. I can't find any help on this anywhere on the net.
