We have AT&T @home cable coming in july (finally), anyways I wanted to have just one computer hooked up because it's free for the first one. The second one there is a charge for so I was wondering what I'll need to do after the cable guy goes to hook the second one myself???
The cable modem they use is an external model and I think they use some kind of card inside the computer.

We had a similar setup in our department at work, but we used a dial up modem.
I guess the principle's the same.
Assuming that what can be done with a dial up modem is pretty much the same for a cable one, here goes:
You will need 2 cheap nasty network cards, like a NE2000. The cheap ones retail in the UK for about £10 each and do the job OK.
You'll also need a Category 5 RJ45 patch lead. These come in two flavours - straight through and cross-over. You need the cross over version to connect the two PCs together.
To run the shared internet connection, you either need Windoze 98 SE, (Win2K presumably had this feature also), or for W95, a program called Win Gate.
Obviously, if you have 98SE, you don't need to spend any money on new software and it probably has some reasonably straightforward wizard thing. I've never set the software up, but a m8 has and he said it was fairly simple (98SE).
If you did a default installation of 98SE, the 'internet connection sharing' might not have been installed, so you'll have to sort that out in the control panel-> add remove progs -> windows setup.
This system with two network cards will also allow you to file and print share between the two computers, which is really useful and should be a 10MBPS connection between the two.

Will both computers be able to use the internet connection at the same time ???
