Ok, I installed RedHat 7 on a partition of my computer, and it all runs good and all except if I try to enable my comps built in sound in the bios. It detects it properly (I think), installs it, then trys to play a sample and freezes up to where I have to hit reset and disable again. I tried download the ALSA drivers, but I can't get the make install to go through because it said that something about the kernel version was missing, but it's the latest version and I tried re-installing that to no avail. Oh yeah, it's a Via KX133 chipset with EPoX on the box.
Try moving your sound card to another pci slot. I'm assuming it is a pci soundcard. It is probably trying to share the same IRQ with your video card. Hope this helps.
One more thing. In a terminal window give this command to see what IRQ's are being used by your pci devices: cat /proc/pci
Hope this helps.

I can't move the soundcard to a different slot because it's built into the motherboard, and I can't move the video card because it's agp and there's only the one slot. Would there be some other way to tinker with the irq settings?
The only other way would be through your motherboard's bios, if that is possible. Sorry, that's all the help I can give you. Maybe someone else has an idea about your problem. Have a nice day!
