I just found out that Windows Me will not allow the /s switch (make a disk bootable) for the FORMAT command. I tired to be clever and use the SYS command but that does not work under Windows Me. Any one have a work around?

I understood the ME message to mean that you no longer had to use the /s switch so I just typed format c:\ and voila, it formatted just fine. Installed the OS and had no problems.

I believe this will prove helpful.

I saw the boot disk available at the web page. I was wondering if there a way to make a hard drive bootable? I used to be able to swap in new hard drives using XCOPY (will copy long names) running in Windows 95 or 98 with a few minor adjustments I could swap in the new drive. But the "new" hard drive must be made bootable prior to starting XCOPY. Hope this makes sense. Unless someone out there know another way to install/swap out harddrives.

I just tried that (format a:/s) and Windows terminated the process. It tells me to go do a startup disk under the control panel. I haven't tried "format c:/s" for obvious reasons. I'll try it on my Linux box "in-progess" project.
