I just installed Win 2K on a third (hopefully to be promoted to 2nd system. That is if you guys would BUY my current second sstem! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif) system and installed VMWare. I am now installing Win98SE on a virtual system.

It is really cool. It works just like a virtual system with its own BIOS and own power switch and everything. It does lag though. I have 48 of my 128MB PC100 dedicated tot he virtual machine. I also have set this up as a traditional dual boot w/ the Win2K and a non-virtual Win98SE. It took all of 45 minutes to install the true Win98SE, but int he virtual machine it has 128 minutes left. Wow. It should be nice to play with though. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Gotta get the Linux version as well to install that as well. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Ok, so how exactly does this work? Like can you be running Win2k and open up Win98 in a window??? This would be great for me because Umax hasn't gotten off they're **** and put out some win2k drivers for my astra 1220s scanner.

Yes exactly that. You can start a second "computer" in a window and have two "systems" running in one at the same time with different operating systems. They offer a 30 day trial ont heir website at www.vmware.com (http://www.vmware.com) My only complaints thusfar are, you have to "grab" the input of the keyboard and mouse for it to work in the second OS and I haven't figured out how to go back to Win2K with my input (I haven't really tried too hard though). The other is slowness of the system. I have yet to optimize it though. overall it is a great software. they have a Linux one as well.

I also see why it is so slow on my system...115min to install Win98SE?!? It is the minimum system reqs. 266 or faster CPU. The system I am using is a PII 266 w/ 128MB PC66.
