I was browsing some forum threads and, as I do quite often, I was checking out a registry key that was noted in a thread to try to learn more about my system. I'm using Win98 and the key in question was for Win2k - no big deal that I didn't find it. However, I did find something that scares me: MyComputer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentContro lSet\Control\SessionManager\HackIniFiles Can anyone tell me what exactly this key is for? The name of it sounds bad and I'm worried that my two firewalls and two virus scanners have failed me.
I've got that key in W98 and have no problems. All Trojan/Virus scans are clean. I think it's something to do with updating Video drivers.

It's a valid key & Buji's close. They are "tweaks" for certain apps & files (like QuickTime) that Windoz writes itself.
