I need a sound card that has 2 or 3 outputs.
And has some real good quality
Hopefully one that would be rear and one that could be front. For surround sound

1/8 inch would be okay but if it could use RCA outs then that would be better.

Thanks

SB Live??

Never tried it but about to get one. Also about 90% of everyone here has one.

Finally got an SBlive working on my machine (took three cards before I could get one to work!?!?). The third one installed without a hitch, and it sounds great with a four speaker setup. IMHO SBlive is the way to go.

So...who out there actually got enough money together to get a SB Live Platinum? Is it worth it?

What are the advantages over the regular SB Live??

I'm not a musician so I have no need for the waste-of-space 5 1/4" doohicky.

I have purchased a sound blaster live recently, and I love it!!

Regarding the platinum, I do not think it has any extra features besides the plethora of audio connectors..

Sblive is bery good but very expensive. IF you can afford the platinum so buy it. All i now is that it has some extra CD's, about 8 CDs.

If not, get the SBVibra 128 OEM. And get some cool powerful sound system from Altex Lansing. for home use i guess the ACS 48 will do. it has sat.20W sub. 20W.

but of coarse you can always go for the Alteclansing ADA 880, sat 40W sub 40W, digital dolby.

Or the Creative Cambridge FPS1000.

its your choice.

What are you're primary uses for the card? I have both the SBLive! value and the Aureal SQ2500 Vortex 2. I am pleased with both of them actually. Basic difference (besides $) is that one supports A3D (Aureal) surround and one supports EAX (Creative). The SBLive! which is now selling for $50 I paid $100 for, the Aureal cost me $60 two weeks ago, and last week was available from CompUSA for $30 after rebate! Both of these cards support 4spkr setup and both sound great. Apart from software packages it comes down to (I think anyway) surround support and $. So far I can't justify the price of the Platinum, Mp3, or gamer versions of SBLive! but that's just my personal opinion. It depends on individual needs.

Find some computer shows...you can pick up SB-Live value cards for as little as $25, although most venders want $50. ( I bought 2 for $25 each once ).

The Platinum has front panel controls and connections, and more extra apps, but basically the same.

CL sells an Optical/Digital I/O card for the Live and Live-value for $50 direct. The way to go is the Value for cheap, then the additional card for optical Dolby digital out.

Check out the "PC Steals and Deals" section. Someone posted a really good deal on an SB Live.
