Okay, here is my situation: I have an Adaptec 2940U2W SCSI adapter. Currently, I have two devices connected to it. The first is a Plextor CD-RW connected to the 50 pin connector. The second device is a Seagate Cheetah HDD connected to the 68 pin Ultra 2 connector. The CDRW's ID is 6, and the HDD is 0. The CDRW is terminated internally, and the HDD is not. The CDRW's termination is enabled, and the HDD does not have a terminator connected. Now, my computer works fine. BUT, the HDD's performance is disappointing. Why is this? Does the adapter slow down the HDD to go at the speed of the CDRW? Bear in mind that they are not connected to the same connector. Does the HDD need to be terminated? If the HDD is going at the same speed of the CD-RW, how would I get it to go at 80Mb/s? I am fairly new to SCSI, and any help would be much appreciated!!

I just built a P3 800 with a 2940U2W and a 9.1 Cheetah. I was disappointed in disk performance, I mean only 14-19M/sec from a 10K RPM drive? UW at that? I thought it was BS. Glad I didn't pay to buy it!
