Windows98 Star menu

[WinOS2Mac]

I know that there was a way to make the start menu in WIndows 98 Expand like the one in Windows 95 but i cant remember it. I dont like the scrolling programs menu, i want it the way it was in Windows 95.

Its a change in he registry. can anyone help me?

I tried to search Regedit.com but i couldn't find it.

right click on the desk top
go to porperties then effects and uncheck
animate windows, menus and list

If you would rather do it in the registry, here is the key.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
Value Name: StartMenuScrollPrograms
Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value Data: Yes or No

Setting the value to "No" will stop the scrolling.

no I was wrong. It didn't work. It still scrolls.

I do it the easy way: I set up my start menu with a short list of categories like Games, Utilities, Office Progs, Audio etc... then put all the program shotcuts in the appropriate category...... no more long Start menu list.
