Did you know that in the UK we pay 47 pence (71 cents US) in tax for every litre of petrol, thats 80% of the price of a litre to the government. What is it in the US?
Cd's on average cost £14 ($21) for an album.
Office space in London per square metre is almost triple ($1065) than in the New York midtown, the list goes on.
Can anyone send me a card...Preferably a green one?

In the UK, we have a tax called VAT (value added tax). Now I don't know about you, but when I go to the supermarket and see 'value' tinned tomatoes, or something, they are usually really cheap. Unfortunatly, the Government does not hold the same view for VAT.
VAT is supposed to be added at 17.5% to all non-essential items, including non-essential food items (there would be VAT on a microwave meal and sandwiches, but not on rice, potatoes or steak, for example). The curious thing is that VAT is added to adult's clothes (so they are non-essential, are they?? Hehe), heating fuel (at 5%) and - get this - female sanitary protection!!!!!! A 'non-essential' item, in the eyes of the British Government!!! Well maybe tampons are non-essential for men, but.....?
I am sure that the government has cancelled the VAT on female sanitary thingies, few months back I think. In the US dont you get free condoms too? We have to pay for our tubes.

How about salary? Do y'all in the UK get paid more, on average, for the same job one would hold in the US?
