I have a Promise Ulta 66 IDE controller. I was planning to install Redhat linux 5.2, but I learned that the Ultra 66 is not supported. Does anyone know its supported in version 7.0? is anybody knows a compatible controller?

thanks in advance

Red Hat 7.0 supports the Promise controllers, as does SuSE 7.0 and Mandrake 7.x. Have you tried telling it to treat it as a SCSI device? Sometimes that works (sometimes).

Mandrake 7.0 recognized my onboard Highpoint UDMA 66 controller and since Mandrake is similar to RedHat I would think it would recognize your Promise controller.

Both Redhat 7.0 and Mandrake 7.1 had no trouble detecting my onboard hpt66 controller but failed when I switched to ata100. You should be ok as long as you stick with ata66.

Yeah, I had the same problem with my Promise ATA100 controller under Mandrake 7.
