It a K6-550 for 78 buck a little more yes
but I just had to get it right away.
Also 2 mouse pad for 4 buck and heatsink/Fan for 8.
I benchmarked and perform just like a PIII 500 or K6 III 500.
Not bad what can I say, I wont be upgrading again for at least 5 years down the road.
I took out that MII 333 and will now be collecting dust for many years to come.

congratulations on your new upgrade!
I know the feeling when theres a part out there that u want and u don't feel like waiting, but I say go for it, the computer market is moving so fast that todays fastests computer parts are tomorrows slowest!! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
I'm building a Cyrix 400-based system for a customer, but I know that he;ll be satisfied for it for a long time to come. He had an old Compaq 486, and was using it for years!
Well, good luck on your next upgrade whenever that will be!

You should get an Intellimouse Explorer. Sure, it's more money than a regular mouse, but you won't ever need to buy a mouse pad or clean out the rollers.

Jadison, doesnt a K6-500 cost the same
as Cyrix 400, I say go with K6
they are a bit overpriced for such an obsolete cpu.
It PR rating are way off scale.
It has clock speed of 285 and a P rating of 341 not 400...
The MII 433mhz is actually PR 357
Which cost the same as K6-550?
You can only find this at pricewatch.com
and I guess they're just trying to get rid of it.
This is why I decided to go with K6 instead
I made that mistake buying a few cyrix for myself and a few of my computer that use it too which I so regret so much. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif
I have so far buyed 3, 2 of which is 333
and 1 is 366 of all performed like 300mhz when not overclocked.
So even K6 450 is about 110mhz faster.
And also the FPU are very weak, which when playing MP3 files it seem to jerk alot.
Another funny thing is that I cant seem to figure this cpu out why the benchmark are so poor, say even worst then WinChip from IDT that has both MMX & 3DNow instruction.

I have to agree with Win here. Get that person a k6 2! At least a 350 or 400 man. YOu could get a 450 for $55 shipped. Just tell em to wait a few days.
