I see that you have to allocate RAM to each OS when running both at the same time (no prob- I have 384) but am wondering how the CPU would be divided or if a virtual CPU is in place. I have seen virtual PC on a Mac and it simulates a P 200 MMX. Not exactly the best in speed but it seems to be pretty stable besides a few bugs (have to get the system to recognize a Zip each time Win9x is booted).
Just curious b/c I would love to move to either Linux or Win2K and run Win98 whenever I wanted to play games.
Thanks
Dave

I don't recall what proc the VM simulates, I'll try and check it tonight.
The problem with running multiple VMs will be speed as the CPU cycles are shared. If this is an issue, then don't run the VM and get a dedicated box.
I basically use my VMs for development and proof of concept.
Win98 client
NT DB and APP server
Linux Webserver
And yes I do see a performance hit (PII350 192Meg), but that isn't what I am looking for. Distributed computing can easily be proven this way.

Thanks qball. Basically what I am looking for is a way to run a 'dual boot' without having to worry about reformatting and rebooting. I'd love to run separate OSes, like Win2K or Linux for general tasks and Win98SE for games. If there is a huge performance hit, then it may be only useful for my second system. Here are my system specs:
Cel 2 566 @ 918
Abit BF6
2 20 GB WD 7200 rpm hdds in RAID 0 (stripe)
G400 Max (32MB)
384 MB PC100 ( may be 256 soon)...
Thanks for any advice or ideas on how well this system running VMWare would work.

I don't know how it works, but I want to use it too. I use Win 2k advanced server and 98 on a dual boot. I want to at least check out vmware. my sys is:
epox mb
128 ram
amd k62 450 @ 500
