Hi guys

Who here uses Windows 2000 regularly and how do you like it compared to NT 4.0 or 9x?

I have been running Win 2000 solid now for a week and love it. I am even happier since creative released drivers for my dvd. Everything is so smooth and stable. I never used NT on a personal system before so I cant compare. I think it blows Win 98 away. How about you guys?

Heheheheheheheh............

I've been using it exclusively on my main sys since last december, then the beta's before that.

Yea...I think it's the best OS available.

i will give an amen, a hallelujah and anything else to BBA's statement.
win98 crashed all the time and nt4 is a putz. i know, i work on it everyday and everyday it drives me nuts.
i have been running win2k since the end of february approximately and i have to say that i love it. except for one thing. i still cannot find a functioning cd ripper. i have tried the suggestions of other win2k users and none of them work despite everything...ah well. other than that i have absolutely no complaints

AS BBA says Windows 2000 Rules!

I have RC1 of Windows Millennium installed and have only been in it once or twice since installing it. I also have Linux Caldera 2.1 and can not seem to drag myself away from 2000 long enough to even get it set up properly!

It is just a very stable OS and I love it. Only if the wifes games worked I would be happy, most do though.

I use Win2k Pro on an Athlon 800 system with 384MB of RAM for my work PC at home. As far as Windows apps go, it's the best, IMO. Most stable, fastest, the best of both Windows 98 and WinNT worlds.

Think ME will be just as good? Should I get it when it comes out or wait for the second addition?

I run Windows 2000 as my desktop OS and Linux on my home server. I would use linux as my desktop OS, but I'm on a college WAN and they don't allow that. Bah!

I'm running win2k on my personal machine at home. I love the interface compared to NT (which I ran since NT4 was introduced). My only complaint is about the drivers produced by the hardware manufacturers. They are not as stable as they should be. On the other hand it is very early in the life cycle of the o/s and that might be expected. I don't find it to be faster than NT4, or if it is ...only by a very small amount. I also have several versions of linux (it has a long way to go before it can approach win2k in ease of use and driver support, Win 95 (what can I say), Win98 (is what win95 should have been 5 years ago). The only thing that pisses me off is the MS pricing structure $419. if you want to try it, $225. if it is an upgrade $80. (CDN $) if you get a volume discount. There is one he** of a disparity there that really is inexplicable. I look forward to the day when MS has a little competition to force it's pricing structure to a more reasonable level. All in all I like Win2k and I'm going to keep it.

I have had it for about two weeks i think and so far its running real nice. I need more ram tho i heard it works best with 128 i have 64. i play games on it alot and had no real problems so far. i don't think its crashed. Have to look into that. I'm gonna dual boot winMe and win2000 when winMe comes out so i can play dos games.

I run my Win2000 on a k6-2 450 w/256 mb ram. It runs wonderful. My secondary system also has it and it just has a k6-2 300 w/128mb ram. Its a little sluggish but usable.

EDIT--> Regarding "Hotkit"

Seems as if I need to not be entirely honest in my questionaire reply to go forward, my conscience tells me I shouldnt proceed, not sure if I dont understand their "wording" or if im hung up for some other reason and should just continue??? Seems like a great thing "otherwise"... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Well dont discount BEOS5. It is seriously growing on me. As soon as the driver support grows and customer support grows...look out MS....but ah, the pains of being an early adapter.
