Just wondering which is a better online browser.

INTERNET EXPLORER or NETSCAPE

I beleive that it would be I.E. Better support, Internet Explorer Repair Tool, and when you update I.E. you are also updating Windows.

My humble opinion.

Cheers!

It's all about personal preference. They both browse the web. Each has slightly different features to the other. Some sites are optimised for IE, others for Netscape. Use whatever you feel comfortable with.

For Windows, Internet Explorer hands down. Over all, Netscape; why? Because Netscape has been ported to Windows, Linux, Unix... So far they have been willing to be flexible. But now that AOL owns Netscape, it will probably soon suck. IMHO.

Most Netscape fans only like it better than IE because Netscape isn't made by Microsoft. From an unbiased point of view, I like IE better. (Just not IE5.5. Too unstable.)

My dad builds webpages and ALWAYS, ALWAYS, has troubles with having his pages readable in Netscape. From his experience, I chose NOT to use Netscape.

On a side note, AOL owns Netscape and (as you all know) I don't support AOL anything http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

IE it is.

There is a UBB hack to prevent double posts, it may help. http://www.ubbhackers.com/hacks.cgi?action=info&cat=1&id=5

In the meantime, please use this workaround for the Internal Server Errors, to prevent multiple submissions.

Thanks, jad, we'll check it out.

As mentioned up top, these two browsers both do the same job, and serve equally well. The reason I use IE is simply because Netscape seems to crash a little too often for comfort. I quite regularly will get a crash on pages where IE won't even quirk. Then again, perhaps some patches have been released since the last time I've used Netscape (3 months ago).

Have both, especially when designing web pages just to see what the page looks like in a different browser and to iron out incompatibility issues.

Before the IE4 was released, Netscape was far the best browser. Now that IE5 is out, I believe Netscape comes second. IE seems to be a little faster (not much difference, Netscape was already fast enough) and more stable. I am also experiencing trouble with site combatibilities with Netscape. "Marquee" for example is not supported by Netscape and the fonts are too small by default, which is annoying. Also, on Netscape you cannot have a picture 0 pixels away from the border (attached on the side of the page). At least I haven't found a way to bypass this problem. IE seems more friendly on these features. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

If need an alternative why don't you try Opera? It's FAST but doesn't support all the goodies by default (Flash, Java, etc). You'll have to look for plug-ins.

iused to prefer Netscape--it indicates the downloading speed and seemed faster than IE.

NBow- I prefer IE cuase it remembers passwords

the new Netscape 6.0 series is supposed to remember passwords.

PS: I was getting alot of "script" errors using IE 5.5--the cure is to disdabled "script debugging" in advanced section of IE properties.

I use both IE5.5 and Navigator 4.08. I think I prefer IE.
IE starts up alot faster. It changes Windows aswell, which I like.
Navigator has nicer buttons than IE. It feels as if it loads pages faster, although I think all the progress that is shown on the status bar tricks me into thinking this.
I don't think I'll moving from IE. I would dump Navigator tomorrow.
