Ever since the introduction of the LS-120 SuperDisc I've wondered why no one used them instead of the pathetic 1.44mb floppys. Well now Panasonic with their "PalmCam" have done it. The 120mb disc holds up to 1500 pictures and with the LS-120 disc, downloading them is 'cable free'. It also has the option of a USB connection. The camera will take pics on motor drive at 1/10 second intervals up to 100 frames. It's resolution is a average 1.3 megapixel with a ho-hum 3x optical lens and 2x digital zoom. It has a 2.5" LCD screen and a microphone? I found it in a catalog at work that arrived this morning from www.dartek.com (http://www.dartek.com) at $799.00 it's a little steep, but the 120mb memory helps a lot. They also offer a LS-120 card reader for $59.00. DrVette

Wow! That's awesome. I never understood why the LS-120 never took off into the Big Leagues. Everyone always preffered the 100mb zippies instead. Why? They were inferior. But now there is 250mb. Oh well...I'm MUCH happier with my CD-RW. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

*edit - oops, meant 250, not 200 http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

chipbgt : Hmm.. Not that I know of.

I think thats pretty cool. 1500 pictures is a LOT of pictures. That'd be nice when your going on a trip or something, and don't need all these extra memory cards if you take a lot of pictures.

A local college here about two years ago told me that their Zip Disc machines were making a strange clicking sound. Soon I read on line about the Zip-Click of death.. Lost Data,, bye bye data.. maybe that is why the camera mfg's have shyed away from the Zip..

My son recently purchased a digital camera that uses miniture IBM hard drives of around 300mb I believe. They are removable and about the size of a book of matches. Think the camera is made by Casio.

I've been trying to find one of those IBM hard drive cards, as my RCA Lyra MP-3 player is supposed to suport them. They are the same size compact flash cards, scale to 1+ gig, and use the ATA interface. Compact flash also uses the ATA interface and has the same number of pins, so it should work. I'm just waiting for someone to actually try it out before I sink my money into one.

I like the idea behind that Panasonic camera, but it is huge. Very heavy as well. It only is a 1.3 MP camera and costs a great deal more than other cameras of much higher resolution. While it is a nice idea, I think you lose too much by going this route. You can save on DL time by getting the SanDisk USB card reader and get similar DL times.
