CD-RW working life

G'day I'd like your opinion on this subject.
I just got a cd writer {24x8} and my brother said, hey give me your old 40x cdr for my kids computer. now, I have heard that using your cdrw as the primary cdr shortens it's life dramatically,I'm very new to this forum but totally impressed with the depth of knowledge of the members keep up the great work!

Either way you will probably be saying that it is time to replace this unit due to a technological advance long before the unit fails. Such is the nature of technology (using your old cdr as an example). http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
