Are there any shells for Win 95 besides explorer? Can you make your own? If so, what is involved in this?

PowerDesk 4
This version is a free download with no time or usage limits on the user. It includes PowerDesk File Manager -- the world's best file manager! The file manager provides you with single or dual pane file management windows, a powerful file finder, zip and unzip capabilities, a dialog helper, plus many other features. If you have QuickView or QuickView Plus, you can view many different types of files directly in the integrated PowerDesk viewer pane (QuickView comes with Windows® 95, 98 and NT).

If you're into Star Trek at all, this one turns your shell into the LCARS computer interface... not perfect, but pretty nice.

Well, Windoz itself gives you alternate shells -- Winfile, Progman, and Taskman. Even various DOS shells. Not exactly exciting, tho. Then there's this:

Alright, thanx! Powerdesk rocks! Getting LCARS now! And checking out Litesetup. Just out of morbid curiosity: Can I use the DOS Prompt as a shell. And how would I do that (I sound like a babbling idiot)? I LOVE DOS (hehheh http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif)

Microshaft's old DOSShell program -- it's actually kinda neat & very customisable -- full rodent support:

And Axcel's Dostips.txt -- it's in a bundled download -- W95-11D.zip:
