My current gaming PC is Pentium Celeron 333 in a Asus P3V4X, with 64 mb in ram PC 100, SB Live! value, Voodoo 2, Cambridge FPS1000 , and a **** 2D video Card.
It was a good game machine a year ago, but now its time to upgrade.
But what do i upgrade first?
My budget its tight 350 bucks only.
I buy more ram 128mb, im thinking on PC-133, for a future processor upgrade.
Or i buy a new 3D card like the Voodoo 5 or a Geoforce.
Or a brand new processor with the 128 mb memory.
Anyone can help me?
Thanx.

Hmm...not too bad....I would overclock the processor, get a decent video card ( I would suggest a nice 32 mb ati rage pro/fury that wont cost ya much (150 dollars maybe) and can handle dvd and tv out) and shove some more ram in there as well.
Or if you would like just a straight gaming card, go with something bigger....but I just cant bring myself to spend so much for a video card that will be out of date in half a year anyway.

I really don't think your system is all that bad right now. Although, the extra memory would help quite a bit. Unless you were planning on buying something like a 500mhz P3 or some kind of "large" processor upgrade, buying the memory would help more in my opinion.

Chipbgt, i had a experience with ATI's cards, and they dont get well with games, especially OpenGL Games.
But the overclocking idea sounds great, but i will have to be careful.
Hey Warthog i will follow your post, i will upgrade the Memory with a 128 mb dimm and my existing 64 mb ram, will give the magic number of 196 mb.
And also when 3D cards battle between 3Dfx and Nvidia get hot, like 2 more months i think, the price wil be lowered a bit then i will buy a Voodoo 5 or a Geoforce, it will get cheaper also.
Thanx Guys.
You helped a lot.

yeah, c'mon, 400 bucks for a videocard? i rather spend it on a new CPU. it's just technology and competition is so fast and strong, that i can't keep up, and everyone eventually gets ripped off. I still remember when my dad paid 400 bucks for 16MB of EDO RAM for my old (now spare parts), 486 system. that was only 5 years ago too... see how fast that is. in 5 years, 486 to beyond gigahertz. oh boy. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Actually, I have a system that's pretty close to yours (or will be): 400mhz celery, 192mb RAM, 4mb built in vid card.
I can play all the latest shooters with no problem. I'm also not called a "lagger" in multiplayer even though I have a 56k (RAM helps A LOT with loading times).
Soon I'll be upgrading to a new system which will kick some serious buttocks. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Glad I could be helpful. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Yeah WTP, i remeber when i had that 386 with 1 mb on ram, i did many things with that machine, i had windows 3.1 and the old word and a CD ROM, (yeah baby i had word with 1 mb on ram, slow but it was better than Professional Write for homeworks).
And im not thinking on buying a 400 bucks card, i will wait 3 months and that cards will be 250 or less, (I hope :-))
I hope i can see you sometime Warhtdog, i usually play Halflife with counterstrike mod at nights with the same nick.
And happy fragging guys!!
