Hi, my new computer will not let me run scandisc-message says that I do not have enough memory. I am running an Athlon 750mhz with 128mb ram. Obviously, it should work. I have tried shutting everything down-no luck. I have also tried to run scandisc in safemode-same message. It has run through dos when I have crashed though. The problem that I am running into is that I am developing registry errors and would like to be able to reinstall windows inside windows. But, without scandisc running this is impossible. My soundblaster live card quit running after I installed a visioneer scanner and I'm trying to get that back too.
Any ideas anyone???
Thanks!

I'm running Windows 98. Thanks
Have you tried running scandisk in DOS mode?
Press F8 at system boot up right after the BIOS screen and then select DOS PROMPT ONLY, and type: scandisk.

Hi NDC,
I tried typing scandisc at the dos prompt and got the message:bad filename. What does that mean? Scandisc wound not run. Thanks!
Really??? Bad file name means that the file doesn't exist, but it may be possible that the SETPATH=C:\Window in your Autoexec.bat file isn't activated so try changing into the directory where window is at by typing this at the DOS prompt:
CD Window (Type the name of the folder where win98 is installed at and the CD in from of it.
scandisk (Type this after you are in the Win98 directory)
EX: (it should look like this)
C:\Window\scandisk

If you're not real familiar with the errors you're experiencing, etc. fixing autoexec.bat and other files may not be the best solution if you don't understand the changes.
If this is a new system and you haven't installed other apps, how about: 1. contacting the store you got the system from and 2. reinstalling win98?
good luck
