i am running win98se with a severely corrupt registry, so i decided to buy a new 30GB drive to put win2kpro (NTFS) on. i also want to put on 98se and dos partitions.

do i fdisk as normal and format the FAT partitions as normal and then install win2k to get the NTFS afterwards or does win2k have its own methods??

also where can i get one of those multiple boot programs or does win2k also provide that??

many thanks

Pete

You can just start the installation on a FAT16 or FAT32 partition. You will we be asked the during the installation if you want to convert the existing FAT32 or FAT16 to NTFS. Just read the screen during the installation. You won't need to buy any third-party programs to dual-boot for windows 2000. Win2K will support dual-boot.

Suggested by Microsoft themselves...

Knowledge base....

Install Win9x 1st then install Win2K Pro 2nd. Make sure that you make seperate partitions for the OS's. If you don't you may end up with OS conflicts with certain programs. Therefore.... with a 30 gig harddrive I would make a 1st partition with 3 gig...and install Win9x on it and make another 3 gig partition and put Win2K pro on that.... Also put your OS dependant programs on the appropriate drive.
