My boss has asked me to attempt to find software that could be installed on a server that would have search engine capabilities for an intranet environment. Does any one know of any such software out there? I understand that Micorsofts IIS is available, but I understand that this may be the most expensive option available. I am hoping to find something over the weekend for a report on Tuesday.
Thanks
Mark

IIS (Internet Information Server) is a part of the Windows NT option pack 4. from microsofts site (http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/web/exec/overview/WebFeat.asp) :
Feature
Integrated Indexing and Searching
Description
Administrators have access to full-text indexing of HTML, Text, Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF and other file formats. Then, using Active Server Pages, ActiveX Data Objects and SQL ServerŪ, organizations can easily build custom search pages to provide users with the ability to search for information on an IIS 4.0 Web site. This provides an easy and integrated solution for organizations to provide searching capabilities to clients through a Web browser.
hope this helps, even if only a little. good luck.
