Thanks, Bryan rtyp3 06-10-2000, 11:27 PM Yeah, check this out: http://www.tweakfiles.com/networking/intellidialup.html neo_otyugh 06-11-2000, 03:53 AM www.speedguide.net (http://www.speedguide.net) has a lot of good tweaks as well...my peaj download so far has been 950 kilobytes a sec...average range is 150-350 kilobytes/s Nixona 06-11-2000, 08:23 PM I've got an @Home cable "uncapper" for uploading. It supposively works, I just like messing with the @home guys. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif You type in the MAC address of the Cable Modem, and some other stuff, and it reassigns your gateway address. Pretty neat stuff. I don't know where you can get it though, I'd be happy to email it to somebody to host it. jad1097 06-11-2000, 08:37 PM Nixona, What modem do you have? Did you get this from one of our other members? Hell just e-mail it to me. GroundZero3 06-11-2000, 09:25 PM i heard that those kind of programs can attucally slow your connnection down. Just putting my 2 cents in JaYsin SysOpt 06-11-2000, 11:41 PM Nixona: one of our forum members stole a version of that hack and called it his own. In the end, it worked for a couple people for a day or so but then ceased working. My guess is that the cable provider monitored it closely and closed whatever loophole allowed it to work. jad1097 06-12-2000, 12:10 AM Interesting. neo_otyugh 06-12-2000, 01:01 AM that program was also only supposed to work on lancity modems. it also placed some wierd keys in your windows registry. i spoke at length with a road runner technician and he basically told me that the entire system limits upload speeds, at best i can get 384k uploads and he said that was near the fastest possible. as far as download speeds there are a lot of limiting factors. i have set my maxmtu to 1500, adjusted rwin for faster browsing, assigned ram to the irq my NIC is on, as well as a few other tweaks. the best burst i have gotten was 950Kilobytes/s, and i average above 150kB/s. a lot of it depends on where i am downloading from though. Toadman 06-12-2000, 07:48 AM And it was incompatible with Motorola cybersurfers I and II, the preferred @home modem on the west coast. shadow 06-12-2000, 08:27 AM I have used the tweak at this site, it improved the speed somewhat and it's easy to do. http://navasgrp.home.att.net/tech/cable_dsl.htm Also try this IE tweak if you dont mind being an internet hog. In Windows 9.x 1. Open Regedit (Start-->Run--> and type 'regedit' [without quotes] ) 2. Navigate to the following folder: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\InternetSettings 3. Create the following "DWORD" : MaxConnectionsPerServer 4. Set the value to any high number such as 10 (the default is 2) 5. Creat the following "DWORD" : MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server 6.Set the value to any high number as well such as 10 or 12(the default is 4) More explanation: See http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q183/1/10.ASP?LNG=ENG&SA=ALLKB&FR=0 SysOpt.com
