renaming my music

is there a program that will sort my mp3's by type and put them in order??

like country, classic etc.

I had such a program a while back, I forget what it was called, it really sucked so i deleted it.

I'm a VB/ASP programmer, and downloaded some free mp3 controls and was going to make a program to do this myself, but have yet to get around to it. if and when i do, i'll let ya know.

that would be great..right now I do it manually and being a 2 finger typer makes it a time consuming process

What I have done is create folders by the type of music then sub-folders of the bands. I just open up two windows and drag them from my Napster music folder to where they belong.

I believe a program called musicmatch will do that. You can use the preset categories it gives it from the online music database, or you can label it as whatever type you like manually. Then you can tell it "play all my country music, followed by some jazz and some rock mixed together." Its pretty cool.

chipbgt, thanks for the link I have been looking for something to replace WinAmp for a while now and this looks like it just may be the one I have been looking for.

No problem http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif When I tried it some months ago it seemed kinda power hungry but it looks like its been toned down and uses up less computer than winamp. I downloaded the new one myself and will give it a try. Let me know what you think!

Hell, there are many more players besides Winamp. I first used Music Match last year and still use it. I have tried: Real Jukebox, Winamp and Windows Media Player 7. I think there is at least one more but I can't think of it right now. I only tried Winamp because of the cool skins and (recently discovered) it doesn't skip as much. Other than that, there aren't nearly as many features. Plus it is hard to see. The only thing Winamp has got going for it are the thousands of cool skins out there.

I have to say I LIKE IT!

It is way better than WinAmp, at least I think so. It is using quite a bit of memory though(11MB's), maybe due to about 2000 song's being in the playlist right now. That **** squelching sound is also gone while surfing and playing mp3's.

I love how you can organize everything, man I am just stoked! When I am a walking I strut my stuff and I am so strung out, sorry about that just singing I just can't seem to help myself.

I am going to check out the find music feature soon. Again I am just stoked and love it so far!
